I'm Going To Be A Father!
No, no, I don't mean that literally, or else my butt would be home so quick. We’ve got transfer news for this upcoming transfer! Transfers are usually six weeks long, and I'm in my second transfer, fixing to go into my third transfer. My trainer, Elder Lovejoy, will sadly be leaving and going to the city of Fresno to be a Tech Elder! He’ll be taking care of all the technology, videos, and online training for missionaries, as well as regular missionary work too.
I'm going to be training a brand-new missionary from the MTC (Missionary Training Center)! I'm quite terrified, considering I only have about 3 1/2 months of experience out in the field, but, hey, I’m also excited. I just got out of training too, haha. It's like graduating from kindergarten and becoming a kindergarten teacher. But nonetheless, all things are possible through Jesus Christ. And even though it's scary, I know He'll take care of me as I lean on Him. I'm super excited to find out who it is and to love him!
Now listen, I’m not being apostate by sending this on a Monday. This P-day is on a Monday because of transfers, so no scolding me, please. I do appreciate the accountability, though.
Normally, at zone councils, I don't feel like participating much because I am a fairly new missionary, and nothing I say feels new or insightful—or at least that’s how I feel. But something I've learned is that no matter how new or old you are, what you say does matter. It's nice to be filled with more confidence through the Lord as I've been diligently seeking it out. So I'm glad those have been getting better because I normally dread zone councils.
One thing that's been a blessing for me this week is the sweet message of the restoration of the Church of Jesus Christ. I wouldn’t serve a mission for my church if I didn’t know the Book of Mormon was true. There’s absolutely no way I would last. Our church is not just any church; it's the same church that Jesus Christ established when He lived here on Earth. And it’s being led by Jesus Christ today through a living prophet, like prophets of old. But being able to testify of the message of the restoration and feeling the Spirit illuminate the room is quite remarkable. And it happens every single time.
We had a baptism on Saturday, and it was quite nice. Some of the words spoken were ones even I really needed to hear that day. The boys were mostly taught by the sisters because their dad was rarely home, but we participated in lots of lessons and had meals with them. I think they liked us better too (joking). Their names were Pedro and Jacob, and they’re studs. They wanted to really know the gospel before they got baptized. Smart kids. On Sunday, I had the honor of confirming Pedro, and Elder Lovejoy did Jacob. The Spirit was so strong, and again, my favorite words are “receive the Holy Ghost.” I'm truly blessed and have been extremely spoiled with blessings. I hope I don’t turn into a spoiled brat.
For all of you who have been waiting for Ben's mission to get hard, your wish might come true this next transfer. I’ll definitely be out of my comfort zone. The funny thing is my mission has already been hard, haha. The joys just outweigh the cons, so why spend time talking about the hard things? But yeah, missions are hard. I feel like I constantly have things running through my brain or lots on my plate. But every day is 24 hours, so you just gotta take it one day at a time. (The hardest part is planning ahead.)
Anyway, later in the week I’ll be posting pics of my new companion on my Google Photos, if you want to see them ASAP: https://photos.app.goo. gl/TJ69KxoDsiQe4Phz5. Wish me luck! I’ve never really parented before, besides the occasional putting my little brother Sam in timeout. Hopefully, I don’t have to put anyone in timeout.
Anyway, I love you, friends and family!
Your fav ;)
