I'm A Southern Belle

Howdy everyone,


I'm alive and well. This week was really hot. I'm not going to put that in every email, though, because that's going to be a trend in the Central Valley. Every day this week was over 110ºF.


I'm just blessed we have a car and good people who give us water. There were times we'd be out and run out of water, and we'd pray to find someone nice to give us water. The Lord would ALWAYS answer our prayers, and not only that, we'd get cold water!


This week was kind of hard; not many people wanted to talk to us, even on the Fourth of July. It was blazing hot that day. Luckily, we were blessed enough to talk to family that day, which saved the day for me. It was weird being the missionary on the phone at the family gathering, being passed around and saying hi to everyone. I loved it, though.


We had a baptism this week as well! His name is Victor, and he's an absolute stud. He was definitely nervous before the baptism because of all the people there, but he was still super excited and even happier when he came out of the water. We played some basketball with him later that night, and it was his first time seeing us in "normal clothes." His story is interesting. He met with missionaries about 10 years ago, then requested to meet with us. We met with him once, and then he called us and said he didn't want to meet with us anymore. Then he called a day later and said he DID want to meet with us because he loved the fullness of the gospel and realized this was what he was looking for. Super big blessing.


Elder Lovejoy and I taught Sunday school, and it went great! There's a lady who is super funny and always starts off by saying, "I'm a Southern Belle," and then rants about something not really related, but we love the participation! The ward really likes us elders, which is great. It's nice to feel loved by people even when you're so far away from home.


We had some great lessons this week with some of our friends, and it's nice to see the light enter more and more into their lives, as well as mine. The drives out here are so beautiful as well. Being surrounded by orchards and vineyards with a gorgeous sunset is truly irreplaceable.


We worked at the food bank for four hours on Monday, and my back was sore from all the lifting. But the cold water was good, and we got a package of raisins—yay! It's nice to be at the food bank and be with people who love helping others just as much as you do.

It's ya boy Chips Ahoy, and I wish y'all a Merry Christmas! I hope everyone's been doing well and you're finding a way this year to make Christmas centered on Jesus Christ. This week has been very good! We've had lots of service opportunities! We got to help a member paint his house as well as set up some stuff in a lash studio. This week we had a zone conference completely centered on Jesus Christ. It was really nice getting to hear people's testimonies and their favorite stories of Jesus Christ. Free V- Bucks???

Hey everyone, I hope everyone had a great Christmas! I apologize for not sending an email last week, but here I am. These past few weeks have just been different than the rest of my mission (in a good way). I've been out for about 9 months now! I'm halfway done with a sister mission! Jkjk This Christmas season has been quite remarkable, and I can't remember a time in my life so focused on Jesus Christ, especially on His humble birth. I feel the Spirit every time I read and ponder on His beloved coming into this world. On Christmas, we actually didn't have any plans besides some that morning, so we got with other elders and went caroling for about 4 hours and saw tons and tons of members and friends. Everyone answered the door except one. It's funny because we sang the same song, "Silent Night," each time. We got Burger King too, and it was lit. Anywho, sorry if this email isn't my best work. This week was good down here in Exeter! This week was fun because we talked to lots of people! However, it's so hard for some reason to find people to teach. People will talk to us and stuff but aren't interested in anything to do with the gospel. But we've had lots of success with members and less actives. We went up to Three Rivers in the mountains to clip some goat hooves for a lady we've been teaching, and it was fun! I would grab and wrangle the goat between my legs while the lady, Ashni, clipped the hooves. It was fun until the goat got bored, looked up at you with a blank stare, and tried munching on your shirt. Later, we helped with the chickens, and I got pooped on, of course. I remember when I was younger in school, we went on a field trip to the OKC zoo and had a "zoo snooze." We stayed overnight, and it was hype!
