Photosynthesis
Hey everyone, I'm here. This week, nothing too crazy happened because I was sick.
It started on Wednesday. I got that little tickle in my throat. Then it progressively got worse, and Friday ended up being the worst day. It's hard being sick as a missionary because you can't do much when you're sick, and you can't talk to anyone. I talk to so many people daily, and it was limited so quickly. Members were still great and brought us meals, and the Spanish elders went on exchanges with my companion, covering both areas and handling our lessons and such. But I'm finally good again—I was beginning to lose my mind.
On Sunday, we were out walking, and this guy wouldn't really talk to us, but then he paused and asked me, "Describe the process of photosynthesis." I was thrown off. My high school science teachers would kill me if they were here right now. I answered clumsily and halfway correctly, and he wasn't too impressed. He began to treat me like I was dumb and told us goodbye. What on earth? Man, I gotta hit the books again. Stay in school, kids.
I've had a lot of time to think, though, which is good. Am I a good trainer? Am I the missionary the Lord needs me to be? If I were sick for two weeks, would I be okay? Or even longer? My thoughts this week have been directed toward enduring to the end and the Resurrection of Jesus Christ. If I were really sick or something went pretty south in my life, is my foundation in Jesus Christ strong enough to remain faithful in Him and trust Him no matter what? I hope so, but it’d probably be hard. One gift we'll all be given is the resurrection of Jesus Christ. So no matter what mortal body I or others have had, all will be perfected and made whole.
Alma 40:23
"The soul shall be restored to the body, and the body to the soul; yea, and every limb and joint shall be restored to its body; yea, even a hair of the head shall not be lost; but all things shall be restored to their proper and perfect frame."
Every single loved one we know, and all the anguish of a mortal body we have, will all be resurrected. We can know that if we endure faithfully in this life, we can be made whole spiritually and physically through Jesus Christ and see our loved ones again. We can find strength in knowing this life is not the end, and Jesus is the Christ. This life is a time to be mortal, a time to learn, a time to be imperfect, but a time to turn toward our Redeemer, Jesus Christ.
Anyway, I'm all good now, and I'm thankful for Heavenly Father. I'm thankful for y'all's support and love. Until next week.
