The Cowboys Of Sanger
Yo, how's it going? It's been a minute since I emailed. I've been doing great here in Sanger! I was originally in a trio, but then the third (Elder Kennington) left for the Saratoga Springs, Utah mission! So now it's just me and Elder Pancheri. We have a great time out here, and the companionship unity is on point, even though he's in his training.
We did a deep clean on our apartment and threw away four or five trash bags full of junk. We vacuumed everything, swept, mopped—the whole ordeal. My mom wouldn't believe how clean we got it. I was notorious back at home for halfway doing everything, if you even want to call it that. I would just put my clothes under my blanket on my bed and call the room "clean." Or just chuck my shoes in my closet or stuff things into my drawers. My mom always didn't like how I left my drawers out (I still do it sometimes out here).
Speaking of cleanliness, we have this thing in our mission where if you keep your car super clean, you can win the cleanest car award at Zone Conference and get a paper with 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place. Only 1st place, however, gets a car scent with President Davis' face on it. I'm telling you, me and Elder Pancheri got that car shiny clean. We washed all the mats, vacuumed, cleaned the glass—every crumb gone. We even shined the tires. Guess what? We got 2nd place! Which is awesome, but I'm trying to get that dang President Davis car scent. Honestly, no clue how we lost. I think it was Sister bias.
The other day we were driving, and we saw this Christian concert-sermon type thing, and me and Elder Pancheri were so tired, and it was almost dinner, but I was like, "Hey, if we don't go, we're going to regret it." It was cool; it was like Christian rap with lots of people from Sanger there. Got a chance to talk to lots of people and listen to some cool music.
The work in this area has been doing so much better! We've made a lot of new friends and met tons of new people. Some people we met were Tony and his family, and when we knocked on their door, he welcomed us in, and we studied the Book of Mormon and Bible for like 15 minutes. We came back a few days later, and his whole family was there, and they fed us lunch too! I was so stuffed.
I feel like this transfer has had so much growth for me, but it's been very hard and very rewarding. I feel like I'm still figuring out myself and also how the Atonement of Jesus Christ perfectly works. I've seen the Lord magnify and multiply my two fishes and five loaves. We also have a mission 5K, and waking up and running in the morning sucks, I'm not going to lie. I wish there was something positive to say about that one. There are some days when I wake up, and I think to myself, "Gosh dang, missions are hard; I don't want to do this today," but that mindset always goes away when I switch it to, "How can I bless someone today?" The happier days are the days when I'm not worried about myself. If you're struggling to find joy or wondering why things are so hard, kindly forget yourself and bless others, and I promise you'll be blessed tenfold.
