I Found A Big Grapefruit
Anyways, this week felt long. I feel like the first week of a transfer always feels long, but it was good to say the least.
I'm companions with Elder Kesler, and it's awesome! He is such a charitable missionary, and I really admire his desire to do work and help others feel the love of the Savior. He does absolutely nothing to take away from the Spirit. I will say, because his legs are long, it's very easy to kick a rock between his legs as we walk.
This area is good, and the members are starting to like me, hopefully. I think sometimes they can't tell I'm joking because I joke around all the time. Personally, I think they just see me as competition.
I was having a rough day the other day, thinking, "Hm, this area is difficult, and we're really struggling to find prepared people here." Then later that night, on a Zoom meeting, President shared the classic Ether 12:6:
"6 And now, I, Moroni, would speak somewhat concerning these things; I would show unto the world that faith is things which are hoped for and not seen; wherefore, dispute not because ye see not, for ye receive no witness until after the trial of your faith."
It really struck me in a new way. I really felt rejuvenated and excited to get to work. Sometimes you've got to wait in line before you get the Big Mac at McDonald's. Kind of like how sometimes you have to persevere in the work in order to find those prepared for the gospel. Even though at McDonald's we usually don't see them make the food, we can have enough faith and trust that we're going to get it. And the beautiful thing is, sometimes they "mess up" your order. Or is it truly a mistake? Sometimes you make out for more than you bargained for, or sometimes you don't. The thing is, either way, it's for our good. And maybe sometimes we need the Happy Meal more than the Big Mac meal. By the way, I'm talking about McDonald's because I promised for my entire mission not to eat it once, and it's been successful.
Let me tell you, God blessed us with some Happy Meals at the end of this week. (We found some really amazing prepared people.)
All I've got to say is, missions aren't easy, but as I pray, I can't help but be thankful for the blessings I've been blessed with. The Lord is truly aware of me, and it's heartwarming to think.
Anyways, I'm loving being out here even though some days I get stale McDonald's fries or sometimes it feels like I don't get my order at all. Remember that the Chef is God, and He always delivers! I love y'all, and I want to give a shout-out to my amazing ward family for being awesome!
