Okay So What's Up
So this week was greatish. I was sick last week, so that's why I didn't send an email. It was torture. It just lingered with me. My problem is, anytime someone tries to guess where I'm from, they always say I look like I'm from Utah. Like seriously? Do I LOOK like I'm from Utah? Don't answer that. People from Oklahoma are just the best. People treat me like a stray dog and they're always like, "you poor soul...almost dying to tornadoes," and I'm always like, "bruh it's not like that." I do miss the thunderstorms though. The weather here is either foggy or flipping a million degrees.
Anyways, yeah I just bummed for a bit as my companion soloed all the service we signed up for the previous week. Shout-out to my comp Elder Kesler. We've been doing a lot of apartment finding/tracting, because it's the most effective and it's been fun to meet some pretty great people. We met two guys named JEFF back to back!! One was a pastor who was pretty passive-aggressive, but he's also a dog, and the other was a Jehovah Witness. JW Jeff had the demeanor at first that he was going to bash us, but he was such a DAWG, and he even wanted to buy us McDonald's, but we all know that I've promised not to eat McDonald's my entire mission. Plus, we just ate dinner before that.
Let's just say my firstborn will be named Jeff, and if it's a girl, it'll be Jefferena (Jef-err-E-nuh) or Jeffrose (Jef-rose). Listen, I'm on one as I write this email. We were also talking to this guy and he was drinking a beer, and I told him it's too early to be getting drunk, and his dog jumped on his beer and spilled it over. And he was like, "it's a sign." So we were able to share a scripture lol.
Anyways, I'm learning how to do kick-ups with a soccer ball and how people have such good footwork. I'm good at basketball, but soccer is so hard. I want to be cracked at it by the end of my mission.
Ok... now spiritual things. I just wanted to share the power of the Book of Mormon (BOM). I think there's a difference between obtaining the word and treasuring the word. When you treasure something, it's near and dear to your heart and is easily called to your remembrance.
D&C 21:11 "Seek not to declare my word, but first seek to obtain my word, and then shall your tongue be loosed; then, if you desire, you shall have my Spirit and my word, yea, the power of God unto the convincing of men."
I've seen a lot of power that comes from studying the scriptures constantly, but some verses resonate with our souls and those are our treasure. Share your treasure. A witness of a verse is very powerful, and I've felt it as I've shared the scriptures with others. The beauty of the Kingdom of God is that the richness and Glory of His kingdom is meant to be shared. Our bodies recover and grow strong as we focus on ourselves and our health. But our souls are the opposite. The way to heal your soul is through outward expression and action. I love you and I miss you! God bless.
